Here the artist employs motifs often found in Persian ceramic and archetypal imagery of birds amongst flowers to exprss the flowering of hope, of possibility kept alive in testing times, protected through the storm which carries this woman to a calmer, more settled space.

Still drained by experiences borne, her grey suggesting depletion the pink hue of growing pomegranetes express the birth and burgeoning of new life nutured.                                         It was after the artist had completed her painting that she came across the Emily Dickinson Poem, Hope is the thing with feathers, " That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops- At all"                                                                                Delighted to find in such magnificent words conveying so exactly many of the feelings encapsulated in her painting," I heard it in the chillest land- And on the strangest Sea".        Here too are her own guardian angel held within, behind her. Hope has wings which now can take flight.

The Midst of Chaos

h: 77 w: 62 d: 3 (cms).

From the barren trees of winter that threaten to overwhelm, to crowd out the sky emerges a woman, whose sad, reflective face reveals the strains of what has felt overwhelming but whose longer neck can now hold her head aloft, higher.

She is clothed in a beautiful, green dress, patterned by the teardrop shaped Persian "buta" motif here in gold, with its connotations of spiriual, magical, alchemical transformation, the colour of a metal prized but indestructible.

But are her hands still paralysed, as in the past her agency or guarding, protecting the space in front of her? Is she now gently armoured or adorned?

This painting incorporates rather than denies what has been experienced to fashion a space of this woman's own.

Out of chaos is emerging promise.

In her brightest moments

This painting captures moments in life of growth, of coming in to being.

Eyes of my soul seeing peace. Celebrating the journey alone.

The disappointment of relationships, emotional effects which felt toxic can now held in the past, contained outside.

The use of soft light green emerging from the canvas evoke spring at the start of seasonal renewal. The woman is poised, her long elegant neck allowing her to stand tall, head held high. Faithfully praising her life again.

Her touch is light but her hands are strong, capable. Much is possible within her grasp.
